HARINGEY COUNCIL: HIGH STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

The high street is the face of the local community. It sets out the feel of the area and gives it its personality. When we were approached by Haringey Council to ‘rebrand’ their high streets we set about researching the area, its history and the diverse communities which make it what it is. In our mind, these communities would be key to injecting life back into the high street and creating attractive destinations that people want to experience and be a part of.

One of the proposals focused on the high streets being ‘A Place Where You Experience Different’. Community storytelling was at the heart of this creative, reflecting the range of diverse cultures and influences of the area. The brand look we created was full of energy, communicating the fact that the local high streets were hubs of activity, full of character and offering unique visitor experiences.

In addition to our initial branding concepts we outlined some initiatives to help bring the community together, ensuring everyone was working towards a common goal. Our approach emphasised the need for all of the communities to be involved in the creation of the high street brand, right from the onset.

While we acknowledge that there is still some way to go to get our high streets back to where they need to be, by focusing on creating exciting unique experiences through the stories of the high streets communities, we’re confident the UK’s high streets can once again become destinations that people want to experience.
